About us :

… It all began in 1973 with a small group of girls and Karin Kuschmann who was their artistic head.

Soon other people were inspired to join them.

This was the founding stone of the dance group Dorndorf.

The “Kali” company in Dorndorf supported the group culturally and financially.

In 1976 the dance group of the “Kali” company Dorndorf had their first performance

to the “Arbeiterfestspiele” in Frankfurt/Oder. Meanwhile there were 12 girls and 6 young men in

the group.

Since 1979 the members of the group were in the “Zentralen Tanzensemble” of the FDJ.

In 1990, the German wall broke down and Germany was reunited. We reformed our group

and registered it as a society with Karin Kuschmann as the president. Since that time we are

named “Tanzkreis Werrataler e.V.”.

1991 Evelyn Sandlass took over the presidency of our society.

In summer 1991 we were invited to the “35. European Youth week” at Burg Ludwigstein.

There we made lots of alliances with other foreign groups.

We already could visit some of these groups or we were able to invite them to our region.

Since 1995 every year we have our dance festivals in Dorndorf or Bad Salzungen.

For these dance festivals we invite dance groups from all over Germany and foreign countries

and we are happy to make old friendships deeper and to find new friends.

Since 1973 150 choreographies were created and performed.

The “Tanzkreis Werrataler e.V.” is an established member of the “Thueringer Tanzverband e.V.”

with its presidency in Rudolstadt and of the “Jugendbund ‘Regenbogen’ Thueringen”.

Our group is also a member of the world dance association C.I.O.F.F.

And…

… In the year 2003 we will celebrate our 30. Anniversary.

Our repertoire collaborates different dance styles.

The repertoire is organized in the following genres:

• National and international folklore

• Classical dancing

• Sociable dancing

• Modern Jazz-, Revue and tap dances

 Most of our dances are for the stage with their own choreography.

 With our sociable dances we like to let the audience take part.
